Tuesday was born on Friday August 27, 1943 as Susan Ker Weld in New York, NY USA. Her name Tuesday came from her childhood nickname Tu Tu. Tuesday Weld is an Emmy and Academy Award nominated Golden Globe winning actress. Her career began when her mother Aileen put her to work as a child model to support the entire family after the death of her father when she was only three years old. By the age of nine she had a nervous breakdown, at ten she was drinking heavily and a year later she was having an affair, by age twelve she attempted suicide. Still by the age of twelve she made her acting debut in The Wrong Man 1956, an Alfred Hitchcock crime drama. Also in 1956 she played the lead role in the movie Rock Rock Rock celebrating Rock and Roll and at age sixteen she was a cast member in the television show, The Many Loves of Dobie Gillis which gave her national recognition. In 1961 she starred with Elvis Presley in the movie, Wild in the Country, they also had an affair together which gave the prudes in Hollywood ammunition and kept her in the spot light of the gossip columnists. She didn’t achieve stardom quickly and she turned down some big roles such as Lolita, True Grit, Rosemary’s Baby and Bonnie and Clyde. She did however make more than a few movies like, The Cincinnati Kid 1966, Pretty Poison in 1968, A Safe Place in 1971 with Jack Nicholson. She was nominated for Best Supporting Actress Oscar for her work in Looking for Mr. Goodbar 1977. She worked in television into the 1980’s but still made movies such as Thief 1981, Once Upon a Time in America 1984, Falling Down 1993, Feeling Minnesota 1996, Investigating Sex 2001 and Chelsea Walls in 2001. Tuesday continues to makes occasional appearances in movies and on television.
